Monitoring speed – Community Speed Watch
Three years ago a proposal was made to the Parish Council to set up a speed watch group to monitor excess speeding in Preston. Unfortunately due to a lack of volunteers it did not get off the ground. Other local parishes (e.g. Wingham and Littlebourne) have already done this.
Community Speed Watch (CSW) is a national initiative where active members of local communities can, with the support of the Police, monitor speeds of vehicles using speed detection devices. If you would like to read more about the work of CSW please click on the above link (shown in bold).
Our Clerk Jean Swan tells me that one of our residents has shown great interest in setting up and coordinating a community speed watch group for Preston so if you would like further details please contact Jean in her capacity as clerk to Preston Parish Council.
