The Local Authorities (Members Allowances) Regulations 2003 state that a Parish Council may pay a parish basic allowance to each of its members. The Regulations also provide that a Parish Council may pay to its members a travel and subsistence allowance including an allowance in respect of travel by bicycle or by any other non-motorised form of transport, undertaken or incurred in connection with the performance of various prescribed duties.
It is not the policy of Preston Parish Council to pay basic allowances to its councillors.
No travel expenses were claimed by any councillor during the last financial year..
The Register of Allowances may be inspected by any local government elector of the parish on application to the Clerk.
